Project Overview

The Licence Check office fit out was completed by Advanced Commercial Interiors at Cardinal Square on Nottingham Road in Derby, helping the client refresh and reconfigure their existing workspace into a more practical, branded and professional environment.

The project involved a combination of office alterations, furniture installation, partitioning, decoration and branding works. ACI supplied new furniture while also reusing selected existing pieces, helping Licence Check maximise value and reduce unnecessary waste. The works included new solid and glazed partitions, branded manifestation, decorative wood panelling, acrylic signage, new doors, skirting, wall decoration, LVT flooring to the breakout area and power/HDMI provision for two TVs.

A key part of the Licence Check office fit out was creating a stronger visual connection between the workspace and the client’s brand. Several walls were decorated in Licence Check’s distinctive blue, while bespoke wall graphics, glazed manifestation and acrylic signage were installed to give the office a consistent and recognisable identity.

The completed project provides Licence Check with a modern, well-defined workplace that supports open-plan working, meetings, breakout use and client-facing activity, while reflecting the company’s brand throughout the space.

The Brief

Licence Check required an office fit out that would improve the layout, appearance and usability of their Derby workspace without replacing everything unnecessarily. The client wanted to introduce new furniture where required, while also retaining and reusing selected existing furniture to make the most of what was already available.

The brief included creating a more defined office layout with a boardroom, low-level meeting room, open office area, breakout space, kitchen, lobby and corridor. The proposed general arrangement drawing also allowed for an open office area for 20 people, a boardroom for 18 people, a six-person meeting room and a breakout area with high-level bench seating.

The client also wanted the space to feel more aligned with their brand. This included blue feature walls, branded acrylic signage, bespoke manifestation to new and existing glazing, and decorative wall finishes within the meeting areas.

Functionality was another important part of the brief. Licence Check needed new partitions to create additional meeting space and divide areas more effectively, along with new furniture for the open office, boardroom and breakout space. The breakout area also required new LVT flooring to help distinguish it from the surrounding workspace.

The Solution

ACI delivered a complete Licence Check office fit out package, combining alterations to the existing space with new furniture, branded finishes and practical layout improvements.

The works began with enabling works, including floor protection to working areas and uplifting flooring in the new breakout area. New 97mm solid partitions were installed to form the required walls, alongside 10mm toughened glass partitions with powder-coated aluminium track surrounds to create glazed divisions while maintaining light and visibility through the space.

Bespoke manifestation was applied to several areas, including existing windows, feature walls in the open office, and new glass partitions to the canteen and meeting room. This helped introduce privacy, improve visual consistency and reinforce the Licence Check brand throughout the office.

Decorative wood panelling was installed to the TV walls in both the boardroom and meeting room, creating a more considered finish and improving the look of the meeting spaces. ACI also supplied and installed two acrylic signage panels, helping create stronger brand presence within the workspace.

The breakout area was upgraded with commercial-grade LVT flooring, high bench seating, circular tables and chairs, creating a more informal space for staff to use away from their desks. New office furniture was supplied and installed across the open office, boardroom and breakout area, including task chairs, bench desks, desk-mounted screens, mobile pedestals, a large boardroom table, meeting chairs and breakout seating.

To complete the Licence Check office fit out, ACI also carried out wall decoration, skirting works, door installation and power/HDMI installation for two TVs, ensuring the finished space was practical, professional and ready for day-to-day use.

The Final Outcome

The completed Licence Check office fit out has transformed the workspace into a more modern, branded and functional environment for staff and visitors.

The open office now provides a more structured working area with a combination of new and reused furniture, helping the client achieve a refreshed layout while making efficient use of existing assets. The new glazed partitions and manifestation provide definition and privacy without closing off the space or reducing natural light.

The boardroom and meeting room now feel more polished and professional, with decorative black wood-effect wall panelling, integrated TV positions and new furniture creating suitable spaces for presentations, meetings and collaborative work.

The breakout area has become a brighter and more informal space, with blue feature walls, wood-effect LVT flooring, high bench seating and café-style tables. This gives staff a dedicated area for breaks, informal conversations and flexible working.

Branding is now a much stronger part of the office environment. The blue feature walls, Licence Check wall graphics, acrylic signage and branded glazing manifestation create a consistent identity across the workspace, helping the office feel more connected to the business.
