Riviera Travel Breakout Area Fit Out: Ground Floor Staff Space Transformation

Project Overview

Advanced Commercial Interiors was appointed to complete the Phase 5 breakout area works for Riviera Travel at their Burton-on-Trent premises. The project focused on transforming part of the existing ground floor office into a dedicated staff breakout space, creating a clearer separation between the working office environment and the areas used for eating, relaxing and informal collaboration.

The finished space combines practical seating areas, a new tea point, decorative screening, feature planting and a darker ceiling finish to create a more defined and inviting environment. The overall design gives Riviera Travel’s team a flexible space that feels separate from the main office, while still sitting comfortably within the wider workplace.

The Brief

Riviera Travel wanted to improve the way their ground floor office space was used by creating a dedicated breakout area for staff. A key part of the brief was to form a division between the breakout space and the existing office, allowing each area to have its own identity and function.

The client also wanted the breakout area to feel more considered and welcoming, with finishes that reflected their brand and overall vision for the space. This included new furniture, feature finishes, planting, improved seating options and a refreshed tea point to support day-to-day use by their team.

The Solution

ACI delivered a full fit out package for the new breakout area, including enabling works, partitioning, decoration, flooring, joinery, a new tea point, window blinds, furniture and project management. New walls and glazed sections helped define the space, while the black suspended ceiling created a strong visual contrast from the surrounding office.

To add warmth and character, the scheme included timber-effect flooring, decorative screens, upholstered seating, orange-accent furniture, suspended ceiling rafts with faux planting and feature lighting. The tea point was also upgraded with new cabinetry, worktops, appliances, water facilities and stool seating, creating a central hub within the space.

The Final Outcome

The completed breakout area gives Riviera Travel a modern, practical and welcoming space for staff to use throughout the working day. The combination of fixed seating, loose tables, lounge-style areas and the central tea point makes the space suitable for lunch breaks, informal meetings and relaxed collaboration.

By working closely with the client throughout the project, ACI was able to refine the finishes and details to suit Riviera Travel’s brand and vision. The final result is a well-defined breakout area that feels separate from the main office while adding personality, comfort and functionality to the ground floor workspace.
