Card Factory Wakefield Office Refurbishment

The Card Factory Wakefield office refurbishment was completed by Advanced Commercial Interiors at Wakefield 41 Industrial Estate, transforming the company’s existing workspace into a modern, practical and brand-led office environment.

The project involved a comprehensive refurbishment of both ground and first floor areas, including the removal of existing partitions, flooring, kitchen areas and furniture where required. Once the spaces had been stripped back, ACI delivered a full fit out package covering new partitioning, flooring, decoration, teapoint installation, electrical works, WC refurbishment, acoustic treatments and feature finishes.

A key part of the Card Factory Wakefield office refurbishment was the creation of a more flexible first floor working environment. This included open plan office space, meeting rooms, agile working areas, a boardroom, creation zone, waiting area and upgraded staff facilities. Brand-led design details were introduced throughout, including decorative slat wall panelling, magnetic write-on vinyl, manifestation to glazed partitions, feature lighting and acoustic baffles.

The result is a refreshed commercial office space that feels bright, contemporary and aligned with Card Factory’s brand identity, while also improving day-to-day functionality for staff and visitors.

Card Factory required an office refurbishment that would modernise key areas of their Wakefield premises and support the way their teams use the building. The existing space needed to be reconfigured, refreshed and upgraded to create a more practical workplace with improved finishes, better collaboration areas and enhanced welfare facilities.

The brief included refurbishment works across the ground and first floor, with ACI asked to strip out existing elements where necessary and deliver a new layout that could accommodate a mixture of open plan working, meeting spaces, agile working zones and support areas.

On the first floor, the requirement included new office partitioning to form defined office and meeting spaces, alterations to existing glazed partitioning, the relocation of storage walls, new flooring throughout and a new teapoint with integrated appliances. The scheme also needed to include upgraded power, data and lighting to suit the revised layout.

The washroom areas were also an important part of the Card Factory Wakefield office refurbishment. ACI was asked to refurbish the female toilets on both the ground and first floor, taking the areas back to shell before installing new ceilings, tiling, cubicles, vanity units, sanitaryware, lighting, extraction and commercial grade vinyl flooring.

ACI delivered a full refurbishment package designed to upgrade the building both visually and practically. The works began with enabling and strip out works, including the removal of redundant partitions, flooring, kitchens, furniture and existing washroom fittings where required.

New partitioning was installed to support the revised layout, including solid partitions to open plan areas and a new partition wall to create a server area. Existing glazed partitions were also altered to suit the new arrangement, helping to retain natural light while supporting the division of spaces across the office.

Floor finishes were upgraded throughout the project. New Shaw Contract carpet tiles were installed across office areas, corridors, the first floor and main stairwell, while luxury vinyl flooring was used within kitchen and washroom areas. New entrance matting was also installed to the front door area.

A new first floor teapoint was supplied and installed, complete with laminate worktops, tiled splashback, integrated fridge and undercounter dishwasher. Electrical works were also carried out to suit the new layout, including Cat6 data points, twin power sockets, relocated floor boxes, new floor boxes and lighting adjustments.

To bring character and brand personality into the workplace, ACI incorporated a range of feature items. These included hanging acoustic baffles, feature lighting, magnetic write-on vinyl, glass manifestation to existing glazed partitioning, decorative timber slatted wall panels and commercial slat wall installations. The stairwell was also enhanced with branded wall graphics, helping to connect the workplace design with Card Factory’s identity.

The WC refurbishments were completed as full refreshes, with new suspended ceilings, wall tiling, cubicle systems, vanity units, sanitaryware, thermostatic taps, extraction, LED lighting, emergency lighting, PIR sensors and commercial grade vinyl flooring.

The completed Card Factory Wakefield office refurbishment has transformed the building into a more modern, functional and visually engaging workplace. The finished scheme provides a stronger mix of open plan office space, meeting rooms, boardroom facilities, agile working areas, welfare spaces and refurbished washrooms.

The combination of new flooring, fresh decoration, upgraded lighting, improved power and data provision, and reconfigured layouts has given the office a cleaner and more professional finish. Practical improvements such as the new teapoint, upgraded WC facilities and revised workspace planning help support the everyday needs of Card Factory’s teams.

Visually, the project now has a much stronger identity. The use of acoustic baffles, branded stairwell graphics, slat wall panelling, decorative wall finishes and feature lighting adds depth and interest to the space while helping to create a more welcoming environment for staff and visitors.
